Before I bought my 4400, I read quite a few of the posts on this sight. Many of the negitive posts about the new JD tractors were related to first year models. I felt JD worked through many of these problems. Also, JD had the closest dealership. (A major factor for parts). Well anyway, I'm 160 hours into ownership of a 4400, manufacture date of OCT, 2000. At 30 hours the entire transmission went.(in the shop for almost 2 weeks)At 70 hours, Trans fluid starts leaking.At 90 hours, the Hydo cylinders on the Loader fail.At 100 hours the aluminum cast housing that the lower left 3 point hitch attaches to--breaks. (In the shop 3 weeks).160 hours, A major Hydo line break by the battery (under hood) Dumped the entire fluid load on my driveway.After all that has happened. The JD dealer has explained "this series is not a true farm tractor". What does that mean?I box scrape, rake, load, and cut grass. What is the 4,400 made for?I'm being facetious. Seriously, I shake my head in disapointment. I was so exited when they delivered it new.

Sounds to that you got a lemmon. I had mine for 2 yrs. got 180 hrs. on it the only thing i had to relace was the battery of coure their is no warranty I got the 430 loader which can handel bigger loades.The only thing is the turing it teares up the sod they are going to replace the front end to the new style it is covered.I wonder do the have a lemmon law like the have on cars? ....

Must have a lot of lemonaid for sale lol. With all those peoblems JD would have been wearing that SOB for a head ornament. ....
